Joint length + size + cartridges

Caulk Calculator

Estimate how many cartridges of caulk or sealant you need from joint length, width, filled depth, and the volume printed on the package. A round bead option covers surface seams.

Measuring guide

Measure before buying

Measure total seam length and the space actually filled with sealant. Backer rod can reduce fill depth; for a round surface bead, enter bead diameter instead.

01

Measure your project

Add seam lengths of the same joint size. Estimate different joint sizes separately.

02

Read the product label

Check the cartridge volume and the sealant’s joint guidance.

03

Round up to packages

Review the extra allowance, then purchase whole packages for the calculated quantity.

The math

How the quantity is estimated

Rectangular joint volume = length in inches × width × filled depth. For a round bead, use π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × length. Divide cubic inches by 1.8046875 for US fluid ounces, then round up to whole cartridges.

Confirm product coverage and application instructions before ordering.
